By Lauran Ostberg Library Director I thought I’d drop you a line. I cannot believe that September is already here! Next week, Preschool Playtime starts on Wednesday, September 6th at 10:30am. Preschool Playtime is just as the title suggests! Come play with toys!

Ruth Lux was a prolific maker of scrapbooks, now valuable sources for recent history. We have examples at the Historical Society museum. Page 45 of the 1968 edition has the account of another piece about the Stromsburg Flying Club.

Hole In One

by Cindy Nyberg Did you know that the Cross County Booster Club has an annual golf tournament that serves as an important fundraiser? This year organizers of the 18th Annual Tournament were Rachel Branting and Jared Capler.

Meeting for Veterans

All veterans in the area are invited to meet at the Shelby Legion club Tuesday September 5 at 7:30 p.m. Please plan to attend to meet the Polk County Veterans Officer.

Polk Library News

Next QOV Work Day in September

Stars, Stripes,and Stitches QoV group will NOT be meeting in August as previously planned due to a scheduling conflict. The next work day will be September 9 at the Shelby Legion. If you are willing and able to help with hand-stitching binding, please let Joelle know. Her email is Stars. Stripes.

Game and Parks Events in September

Little Saplings program presents Spiders on Sept. 6 Adults looking to explore the outdoors with their young children are invited to Little Saplings, a monthly early childhood nature discovery program at Schramm Education Center near Gretna. The 2023 series continues Sept.

Centennial Homecoming will be held on Friday, September 1. There will be a Lion’s Club Burger Bash at 6:00 prior to the football game verses Tekamah-Herman at 7:00 p.m. Centennial Public school pictures will be taken on Thursday, August 31.
