Some forgotten items of Polk County aviation history can be found in Osceola’s wonderful centennial book (the orange one). Here are some quotes: 1921 Mail planes arrange for a landing field on the Mark Timm place, one mile north of Osceola. Final decisions on installations to be made later.

Rathman Honored with Quilt of Valor

At the Shelby Farmer’s Market last Wednesday, a Quilt of Valor was presented to Dylan Rathman. Dylan is an active marine, having enlisted in 2021. He did his basic training in San Diego, California. He is currently serving in Raider Company, 2nd Battalion 4th Marines.

Car Show

There will be a car show on July 19 during the farmer’s market and on August 16. The event is sponsored by Midwest Street Rod Assocation East Central Chapter For questions, call Clayton Hoadley at 402-276-9235.

Girl Scout Troop Holds Product Drive

Girl Scout Troop 58826 in Shelby is having a product drive for the Shelby Senior Center. Items needed include coffee, paper towels, packaged gravy, plastic cutlery (knives, forks and spoons) and monetary donations.

S-RC Blood Drive

Math is something we are taught in school and is used in our everyday lives. However, there are some math problems no one can solve. One of these examples is the Collatz conjecture, named after German mathematician Luther Collatz. This can also be simply called 3x+1.
