Stromsburg, Wakefield mayors make friendly wager

STROMSBURG — Scrambled eggs have never tasted so good. Stromsburg Mayor Ken Everingham will be feasting on eggs this week after winning his friendly wager with Wakefield Mayor Paul Eaton.

Eat Waffles, Help Support Stromsburg Ambulance Squad

STROMSBURG — There are so many ways the community helps the Stromsburg Ambulance Squad. But the tastiest way is coming Sunday, November 6. The annual Waffleman fundraiser returns Sunday, November 6 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Stromsburg Fire Barn, located at 5th and Commercial streets.

Pharmacy Updates Closing Information Details

The Polk County News first reported on Yungdahl’s Apothecary closing in the October 13 edition. Tooley’s Pharmacy in Osceola will soon be the only pharmacy in the county. Yungdahl’s Apothecary owner Marsha Yungdahl issued the following press release this week regarding the upcoming closing.

Farmers from Stromsburg, Polk, Hordville and Clarks rallied around the Peterson family over the weekend to help bring in the harvest following the death of Nate Peterson, who died in a car accident September 16.

Harvey McHarry Honored with Quilt of Valor

Harvey McHarry, a 100-year-old veteran of World War II was surprised by a quilt of valor on Tuesday at the Polk Senior Center. Harvey enlisted in the air force in 1942 and served until 1946.

CC Robotics Win at Brownell Talbot

Cross County Robotics continued their winning way as team 5155A was named tournament champs and skills champ at Brownell Talbot over the weekend. Team 5155A put up a score of 216 which puts them 24th in the world. Team 5155E received the Judge's Award. Team 5155E finished fourth in skills.

CLARKS — A flock of pink flamingos has migrated to the High Plains community. High Plains Elementary is having a little fun with their FUNdraiser as pink flamingos are making the rounds and taking up residence in area yards.
