Flood Edges Pansing Brooks in Special Election

Mike Flood is heading to Washington. Republican Mike Flood defeated Democrat Patty Pansing Brooks by a 53.17 percent-46.83 percent margin in the special election Tuesday. Flood finished with 60,068 votes to Pansing Brooks’ 52,913.

Familiar Face at Polk Library

POLK — There is a familiar face in the stacks at the library. Becky Carlstrom recently became the librarian at the Polk Library. While new in the position, she is no stranger to residents of Polk. Carlstrom has worked as a special needs paraprofessional for High Plains Schools for nearly 35 years.
