Gary Bond Allison age 86 of Gresham, Nebraska passed away September 1st, 2024, at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg, Nebraska. Gary was born to Ralph and Ruth (Bond) Allison in Osceola, Nebraska on September 30th, 1937. He was baptized in the Wayland Congregational Church and was a member there until it’s closing in 1961. He then became a member of the Stromsburg United Methodist Church where he received his 50-year pin.

He attended three different rural Country Schools in the Wayland area and graduated from Stromsburg High School in 1955. Following High School, he attended College at Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Nebraska and later transferred to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1957. He enlisted in the Air Force Reserve while in college and served until his discharge in January 1963. On June 8th, 1958, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Wanda Anette Cunningham, at the Presbyterian Church in Westminster, Colorado. To this union 3 children were born. Dr. Kevin L. Allison of Seattle, Washington, KipAllison of Gresham, Nebraska, and Kelli Allison (Anderson), of Gresham, Nebraska.

Gary worked at Woodward Governor Manufacturing Company in Fort Collins, Colorado until moving back to Gresham, Nebraska in 1960, when he started farming. He has served on the Coop Oil Board, was active in the Hackberry Cemetery Association, and has been President of the Blue Ridge Cemetery Association for many years. He served on the Stromsburg Public School Board, Polk County Rural Public Power District Board for 48 years as of his retirement in December of 2022. He was a long-time member and served as Worthy Patron of the Gresham Eastern Star Chapter #196, and after closing, was a member of the Rob Morris Eastern Star Chapter #192 and received his 50-year membership pin. He was also a long-time member and served as Master of the Stromsburg Masonic Lodge #126 and received his 50-year pin as a faithful member. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite and the Sesostris Shriners in Lincoln, Nebraska and was a member of the Road Rovers Group that rode in many parades across Nebraska, including the Swedish Festival in Stromsburg, Nebraska.

He loved farming and working in his shop with his son Kip and son in law BrianAnderson. He absolutely loved going to his children’s and grandchildren’s sports activities, plays, and band concerts, and everything that they were involved in. He was always so proud of all their accomplishments and let them know how much they were loved.

Survivors include his wife Wanda of 66 years, son Dr. Kevin (Shelly)Allison and children John, Dr. Geoff (Melissa) Allison and their son Jack, Paige (Peter) Diaz, son Kip (Julie) Allison, and their children LindsayAllison, Dr. Jenna (Brennan)Allison, Megan (Mitch) Albers and sons Pierce and Rome Albers, and daughter Kelli (Brian) Anderson, and their children Justin (Megan) Anderson and their sons Mason and Waylon Anderson, Jordan (Justine)Anderson and their sons Leighton, Hudson, Ryker, and Rafe Anderson, Parker (Mirrya) Anderson and their sonAbram, and Brooke (Jacob) Brooke and their son Beckham, and daughter Palmer Brooke. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Ruth Allison.

Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, September 6, 2024 at the First United Methodist Church in Stromsburg, NE. Private inurnment at Blue Ridge Cemetery, north of Gresham, NE. Gary has been cremated. There will be no viewing, however there will be a visitation at the church from 5-8 pm on Thursday evening, with the family greeting friends from 6-7:30 pm. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation. Condolences may be left for the family at metzmortuary.com. Metz Mortuary in York is handling arrangements.
