Roger E. Burgason was born on February 4, 1937 in Stromsburg, NE to Milton and Millie (Kreis) Burgason and pased away into the arms of Jesus on September 25, 2025 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg.

Roger attended Stromsburg Public Schools, graduating in 1954. In 1955 he joined the Navy, serving four years. In December of 1960, Roger was united in marriage to Sharon Colberg and to this union, three children were born. Roger attended the University of Nebraska and Southeast Community College in Milford. In 1965 Roger was the first instructor hired at the newly formed University of Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture in Curtis, NE. In 1972 Roger accepted a position with the Department of Economic Devlopment in Lincoln, NE. The family later returned to their hometown of Stromsburg, NE. The family attended the Stromsburg Baptist Church where Roger grew up. He served as a Deacon and was a member of the church choir. After the children graduated from high school, the family once again moved to Lincoln. Roger retired from the Department of Corrections in 2000. In their retirement years, Roger and Sharon lived in Arizona for a short time. They spent time traveling and enjoying their children and grandchildren.

Roger was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2021 and moved into the nursing home in January 2023. Roger was faithful in reading God’s Word and lived his life in a manner pleasing to God.

Those left to mourn Roger’s passing are his wife, Sharon; daughter Kelly (Tom) Humphrey, sons Todd (Susan) Burgason and Tedd (Christel) Burgason, all of Lincoln; grandchildren Emma (Brad) Shaner,Abby (Kramer) Erb, Jenna Burgason, Tyler Burgason, Tally Humphrey, Teddi Humphrey; great-granddaughter Kamryn Burgason; sister Peg Zimmerman; brother-in-law and wife Mike and Beki Colberg and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, brother and sisterin- law Carrol and Carol Ann Burgason, in-laws Mike and Lucille Colberg, and brother and sister-inlaw Doug and Judy Colberg.

A celebration of life open house will be held at the Stromsburg Baptist Church on Sunday, October 26th from 2 to 5 PM.
