Slammers Can’t Hold On Against No. 4 Bison

CENTRAL CITY — The Slammers live to play another day. The Polk County Slammers will play at Class C No. 7 Gothenberg at noon on Saturday in the C-7 District Final.

Cougars Face Tough Competition

LEIGH — Cross County faced some of its toughest competition this season on Saturday, with the Cougars going 2-1 and finishing third at the Clarkson/Leigh Invite. “Going up against this competition helps us grow,” Cougars coach Emmie Noyd said.

Cougars finish as runner-up at Hastings St. Cecilia Invite

HASTINGS — Cross County picked up two more wins on Thursday, wrapping up play at the Hastings St. Cecilia Invite. Shyanne Anderson The Class C-2 No. 7 Cougars (16-2) defeated Lawrence North in straight sets, 25-19, 25-14, and Wood River 25-21, 16-25, 25-14.

Slammers head to Subdistrict with win over Pierce

PIERCE — Polk County heads to the Central City Subdistrict next week on a roll, picking up a 14-4 win over Pierce to close out the regular season. The Slammers scored 11 runs in their final two innings to seal the win, slugging out 13 hits in the game.

Can county teams go 4-0 this week?

CLARKS — It is a battle of two teams heading in opposite directions. High Plains and Palmer are both 2-3 on the year. Friday will be a game between two teams fighting to even their record and salvage their seasons.

Slammers set new season win record

OSCEOLA — The Polk County Slammers have surpassed their season high for wins with a 6-2 win over Aquinas on Tuesday. The Slammers have won 21 games this year with one left to play. Polk County capitalized on a three RBI night from Kylee Krol, who hit a home run in the win.

HASTINGS — Cross County fell to state ranked St. Cecilia Tuesday before rebounding for wins over Heartland and Superior at the Hastings St. Cecilia Invite. The Class C-2 No. 7 Cougars (14-2) lost in straight sets to the Class D-1 No. 5 Bluehawks (12-8), 25-13, 28-26.
