TEN YEARS AGO September 6, 2012 On Saturday, Judi Luettel, Colton and Conner Luettel, Shylo Buresh and Eric Sayer attended the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island. Colton, Conner and Eric were among the participants in the lawn mower races.

The community dinner was held on Monday at the Gresham Community Center. Among those attending were Linda Neal of Thayer, Nancy Paysen, Pat Chapman and Shirley Richter. Monday Labor Day supper guests of Bob and Adelle Tonniges were Cindy Schulte, Dan Otto, Kent and Linda Tonniges and Robin Moore.

September is College Savings Month

LINCOLN — Governor Pete Ricketts is calling attention to the importance of saving for a loved one’s future education by issuing a proclamation declaring September as College Savings Month.

Area residents Attend Nebraska Republican Convention

Report from Joe Rystrom, Delegate Grass roots movement bring changes to Nebraska GOP. It was an exciting time full of unexpected events. To begin with there were more people there than have been to the convention in many years. Many of the delegates were first-timers.

Area 4-H’ers on Display at State Fair

GRAND ISLAND — Polk County is well represented at the Nebraska State Fair. Over the weekend, 4-H projects were judged and fashion and livestock shows took place. Projects are now on display. The 4-H exhibits open every day at 10 a.m. in the FFA 4-H Building.

Gresham Man Changes Plea

Travis Patchin, age 40, of Gresham has pleaded no contest to a charge of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and carrying a concealed weapon. This is a Class I misdeanor.

Gresham Man Sentenced

Hrolfr Rognirhur, age 38, of Gresham has been sentenced in a case that began with five felony counts of possession of a deadly weapon while being a prohibited person. He was sentenced in York County Court last week.
