City of Stromsburg Audit Brings Up Issue

During the audit done byAMGL of Grand Island for the City of Stromsburg, a couple issues were brought up. The auditors “noted the following items that suggest further monitoring or controls: 1. The City switched from Casey’s to CVA for fuel purchases in April 2023.

DALLAS, TX - The Vex World Championships is a massive tournament of 800 of the best teams from around the world. Over 13,000 teams competed this year. The 800 teams are split into 10 divisions and run a full tournament in each. The top teams from each division then compete for a final winner.

As of May 1, 2024, the York Medical Clinic’s remote location in Stromsburg will be closing, and patients who wish to continue their care are being advised to visit the York Medical Clinic orYork Quick Clinic in York. Amy Schroeder is the Practice Administrator for the York Medical Clinic.

STUDENTS EXCEL AT STATE FBLA, FCCLA & SKILLS USA

Last week was a busy week for area students. Three state competitions were held: FCCLA, FBLA and Skills USA. Shelby-Rising City and Cross County participated in State FBLA. Cross County School also sent students to State FCCLA and State Skills USA.

EVANGELICAL COVENANT CELEBRATES 150TH

STROMSBURG – The third church in the area to celebrate 150 years is the Evangelical Covenant Church in Stromsburg (formerly known as the Mission Church until 1935). They held their celebration Saturday evening and Sunday morning.

Road Work Begins in Stromsburg

Polk County News Weather permitting, work will begin on April 1 on US-81 in Stromsburg, from reference post 78.24 to reference post 79.12, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. That is from the railroad track to just beyond 10th Street. Van Kirk Sand & Gravel, Inc.

AREA SPEECH-LETES PLACE WELL

KEARNEY - State Speech was held on Wednesday through Friday last week. Class A and B were on Wedneday with Class C on Thursday and Class D on Friday. Thursday Cross County and Shelby-Rising City competed. Cross County’s one qualifier was Ellasyn Pinkelman in humorous.
